Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies, known as MLWGS, is a public regional magnet high school in Richmond, Virginia. The school provides a comprehensive educational program designed to advance gifted students’ understanding. It also prides itself on fostering a diverse and supportive community that cultivates student character and their ability to contribute, collaborate, and lead.

Each year, New Kent sends three ninth grade students to Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for their high school education. Students apply during their eighth grade year. To qualify, students must have completed Algebra 1 by the end of eighth grade and have a GPA during their seventh grade year of at least a 3.0.
